village life

The vesper is located right in the heart of woodstock, so you can eat, drink, walk, hike, bike, shop, get massages, go to the library, see a movie, see a play, swim in a river, listen to music, meet a farmer and speculate on moving here without ever getting back into your car. there is also a enormous amount of programming that goes on in this small town - it’s incredible.

artistree is a cultural center which has art classes, billings farm has movies and events that celebrate the seasons (think: baby animals, bumblebees and harvesting) halloween is seriously three weeks long here, christmas? forget it. The lights are everywhere and the shopping is in person, and really quality. the town has an incredible website so you can learn and stay in the know. I’d join their list and get familiar with the events here, any one of them is enough to make a weekend trip special.

breakfast

We serve a continental style breakfast from 8am-9am in the breakfast room. coffee, tea, fruit, spiced steel cut oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and granola and baked goods. You can feel free to eat in the breakfast room or take it back to your room. there are also two excellent breakfast spots within 2-3 minute walk of the inn, soulfully good and mont vert. They open at 8am and 7;30am respectively, f you are looking for something hearty!

We get our Coffee from our pals at abracadabra. We have been complimented on our coffee on more than one occasion, they do a great job. They also have an incredible cafe about seven minutes north if you’d like to say hi - worth the visit. tea obsessors unite! we have english breakfast, earl grey, green sencha, green and citrus and an array of herbal teas courtesy of our friends at leaves and flowers. More upon request if you want something esoteric.

great outdoors

we are right smack dab in the village, but we do have a little outdoor area that is great for fire pits in the winter, and eating, drinking and being lazy in the summer.

We are bikers, our kids bike, and we love to support others in getting out there and seeing the countryside. We are working on a few strava maps for you to download (coming soon!) and follow on your own bike rides. Check back with us in the spring. we are building a bike shed and fix-it area so bikers have storage, cleaning and tuning options.

toys r us

so…. our family lives in half of the inn, and we have two small children. Two built in playmates, and, toys! If you come with some young folks rest assured we have more legos, puzzles, trains and useless plastic crap that you can shake a stick at. just ask and we’re happy to leave some in your room!
